About Camera One

As a well-respected professional photography studio, Camera One has been providing Regina and surrounding communities with dedicated, quality service for 40 years.  Embracing changing technologies and education, Camera One was among the first professional photography studios in western Canada to make a complete transition from film to digital.

At our convenient home studio, production work is done “in-house” including digital enhancements, drymounting and laminating, and framing of classic and canvas prints.

Be it family portraiture or Corporate awards, Boards, teams, products and people, Camera One has the expertise and years of experience to get the job done. From university graduate portraiture to social media headshots, from Band Festivals to infant passports, we pretty much do it all and we love what we do!

ABOUT CRAIG CLENDENING–Professional Photographer

Craig’s passion for photography goes back to his boyhood. Graduating in 1972 with a BEd in Industrial Arts and teaching photography deepened his knowledge and his desire to learn more.  In 1975 Craig left his teaching career to dedicate himself to photography full-time joining the team at F:11 Photographic Design in Saskatoon, and soon thereafter opening a studio in Regina.  In 1979 he rebranded the Regina studio to Camera One and was in business on his own.

Craig is honored to serve and create a “Lifetime of Memories” for families as they have grown and evolved over the years.  As a trusted professional photographer, Craig is grateful to his loyal clientele, providing him a successful career that follows his passion.

Craig has been a member of the Professional Photographers of Canada from the beginning of his career, attending countless workshops and seminars honing his skills and building his knowledge base.

Craig is also active in the local community as a member of the Regina Centre Progress Club, The Regina Downtowners Optimist Club, the Regina Executives Association and the Regina Wa Wa Shrine Club.

Photography is not Craig’s only passion.  When he doesn’t have a camera in his hand, he enjoys the wind in his hair on his Honda VFR and his sailboat “Regardless”.

LIFESTYLE PORTRAITURE

Camera One specializes in Lifestyle Portraiture - portraits that tell a story and contribute to the warmth of a home's decor.

As planning and preparation are critical to the process, the first step in creating your portrait is the planning session where we simply sit down to discuss the many considerations and options available.  Who will be in the portrait? – Core family, extended family, groupings, etc.   When is the best time for the portrait? – Summer, when foliage is blazing with color or Fall, when the leaves turn and present the warmer hues.  Where is an appropriate location for your family portrait? - Should it be done in the studio, in a park, at the lake, in your home or yard – or even our yard! at the lake or another appropriate location?  Wardrobe, props, family activities, and lifestyle are also a consideration. Your portrait can take on any look you desire.

Our second connection is the portrait session, where we bring our collective vision together.  Finally, the projection appointment is scheduled for you to view your images in our comfortable home-studio.  You will see your portraits cropped and sized as they would be displayed in your home, making the selection of your images effortless.

It is our mission to build partnerships with clients, and to achieve story-telling portraits that leave cherished memories for generations to come.

About Craig

Craig Clendening - Photographer

Craig Clendening has a passion for photography. He always has. Even as a young boy he was the family photographer. Craig's interest in making photographs was greatly fueled at university, where he studied photography as part of his Bachelor of Education degree, majoring in Industrial Arts Teacher Education in 1972. Introducing the wonders of photography to young students and witnessing the awe they felt watching their images come to life in the darkroom was a powerful catalyst in leading Craig to a greater search for knowledge and experience. Soon his teaching expanded to adult education, which led to requests for portrait and wedding assignments.

In the spring of 1975 Craig went to Gene Hattori, an energetic, award winning creative photographer who operated f:11 Photographic Design in Saskatoon. Craig volunteered his two month summer holiday, wishing only to gain the experience of professional photography. Within a month of starting they talked of a partnership and opening a studio in Regina. Craig never looked back!

In 1979 Craig purchased the Regina operation and Camera One was created. Always keen for knowledge, Craig is active on the Saskatchewan Professional Photographers' Association and is a member of the Professional Photographers of Canada and the Professional Photographers of America.

Craig is extremely grateful to his clients of the past 35 years who have entrusted him to create their "Lifetime of Memories", providing him a successful career that follows his passion!

About Jayne

Jayne Clendening joined the Camera One team in January of 2012, following 32 years of service with the provincial government where she honed skills in public administration, project management, skills training, and organizational development.

A "people person", Jayne delights in marketing and providing exceptional service to Camera One clients, having no difficulty bringing smiles and laughter into the studio given that she is also a motivational speaker and pioneer of Laughter Yoga in Saskatchewan.

About Erika

Erika Templeton, Digital Retouch Artist

Like other graduates before her, Erika came to us in 2011 from the Applied Photography program at the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology (SIAST). Working in the darkroom, Erika began enthusiastically manipulating her negatives, ultimately leading to her passion for digitally editing images in Photoshop.

Erika loves to travel and since her work is computer-based, she is able to enjoy both passions simultaneously. It's not unusual for Camera One computers to appear posessed as Erika works her digital imaging magic from afar.

When she's not perfecting studio portraits, Erika loves to shoot with cameras on film while exploring abandoned buildings and towns. Her zest for fine art and "urban decay" earned her first place in landscapes and honourable mention in portraits in the Saskatchewan Amateur photography competition in 2012.
